A difference between stock levels could be due to one of two reasons:
Distributor API: octopart.com will use live distributor offer data, whereas the API uses data cached from regular feeds.
User country: octopart.com determines a user's country based on their IP address; whereas the API will default to "US" if the country is not specified.
These discrepancies may cause offers not to be shown at all in some cases. Live distributor data can be sought through the API if explicitly requested.
